The cottage dates from the early 1800's and was originally the
gamekeeper's "larder" to the main house opposite. It has been
recently renovated but retains much of its character - with
exposed beams and the original butler's sink.
The cottage looks out onto a large pond, home to wildfowl,
ducks, geese and chickens. As well as the beautiful walk to
Sissinghurst Castle, there are many others through acres of
woodland and countryside accessed directly from the cottage by
public footpath.
The cottage is open plan and can sleep 2/3, with one double bed
and a sofabed. It has been inspected by the Kent Tourist Board
and has a 2 star rating.
Sitting/Dining Room/Kitchen: Light and airy -
the sitting/dining area is carpeted and has pine table and
chairs, a double sofabed, a pine wardrobe and an occasional
table, colour TV/DVD plus a large picture window with views to
the pond and woods beyond. In the kitchen area there is an
electric hob, mini-oven and grill, butler's sink plus a fridge
with freezer compartment.
Shower Room: Washbasin, heated towel rail and
w.c. situated off the kitchen area.
Sleeping area: Galleried mezzanine floor in the
eaves with low level double bed and window.
Garden: Full access through gate to pond area.
Garden table and chairs in secluded corner overlooking the pond.
Use of main lawn across the drive.
Parking: Directly in front of the cottage.
Heating: Instant hot water by electric water
heaters. Heating by wood burner.
Also provided: Full linen. Laundry service
offered in main house - small charge.
Notes: Children must be supervised in pond area
at all times. The pond is also protected by an electric fence.
